Buffalo man pleads guilty for killing brother

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree manslaughter for killing his brother, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.

Officials said 28-year-old Jerome Cole killed his brother by shooting him with an illegal weapon in July 2022. Authorities said the victim, 35-year-old Marcus Cole, was shot at his residence on Thatcher Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim was taken to ECMC, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officials said jury selection was underway for Cole’s trial when he pleaded guilty and is now facing up to 25 years in prison. He continues to be held without bail with sentencing scheduled on May 4.
