St. Francis House to cut homeless services, close downtown location due to ‘economic conditions’

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) — Officials with the St. Francis House, a homeless shelter in Gainesville, say several of the organization’s programs and services will close within the next month, as well as the downtown shelter location.

According to the organization, the closures are the result of “current economic conditions and decreased funding.”

The Day Services Program will close this Friday. Emergency shelter services and the cold night shelter program will end on April 16. The Main Street facility will also close permanently, though the organization said it is hopeful to reopen at another location…
