Overbuilding appears to be a threat to our water supply

I’ve lived in The Villages for 20 odd years and I love it here. When I moved here they told me the aquifer was low then and we all should try to conserve water. My question to the local and district authorities is if we’re having a aquifer problem and it’s starting to affect the way we live now, why are we still developing? I, for one, have discussed this with quite a few people in our town that agree. They’re all saying the same thing, put a stop to the overbuilding of these large apartment complexes, car washes and housing developments until the aquifer is replenished. After all, how many do we actually need? I know this is a lot to ask of our governing officials, though what’s more important water or unwanted growth in our communities? Thank you for reading.
