BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) The end of the current school year will officially mark the end of Stewartsville Elementary School.
The Bedford County School Board voted 5-2 to close it, to help cut into an estimated $3 million gap in the 2028-29 fiscal budget.

“The amount of money that would be saved may be a very small amount now, but it’s significant, and it puts us on the path,” Bedford County Public Schools Chair Christopher Daniels said. “This is not the last move we’re going to have to do because we have a lot of moves that we need to make, and it’s going to affect every zone.”
