Rockford man accused of attempted murder after vehicle shot

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A 53-year-old man was arrested Friday night after police say he shot at someone’s car after an argument and fled from officers.

William Gary, of Rockford, is charged with:

  • attempted murder
  • aggravated discharge of a firearm
  • two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon
  • criminal damage to a vehicle
  • unlawful possession of ammunition
  • no valid FOID card
  • unlawful possession of body armor
  • resisting arrest
  • aggravated assault to police

Just after 10:30 p.m., March 13, Rockford police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1000 block of S. Main Street.
