Former Marine intelligence analyst indicted over classified leaks

A Texas County, Missouri, man faces federal charges after a grand jury returned an indictment alleging he unlawfully transmitted sensitive national defense information to individuals not authorized to receive it.

Seth Chambers, 35, has been charged with two counts of willful transmission of national defense information. The indictment was issued by a federal grand jury in Springfield and initially filed under seal. The charges were unsealed following Chambers’ arrest and his initial appearance in federal court.

According to the indictment, Chambers previously served as an intelligence analyst in the United States Marine Corps and later worked as a civilian contractor stationed in Iraq during the period referenced in the charges. In that role, prosecutors say he held a security clearance allowing him to access classified materials up to the TOP SECRET level, which provided him with access to national defense and other classified information…
