Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, to a musical family, Brubaker studied violin and piano from an early age. After graduating from Wichita State University, Brubaker completed her graduate studies at Yale University.
Brubaker performed as a member of the Fort Worth Symphony and served as the Concertmaster of Michigan’s Grand Rapids Symphony before joining the Houston Symphony’s first violin section in 1988, where she continued to perform for more than thirty-seven years.
