Meteorologists react to record March heat in Northern Nevada

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – March warm-ups aren’t unusual in northern Nevada, but meteorologists say what we’re seeing now is different.

KOLO 8 Chief Meteorologist Jeff Thompson says the region often gets a brief burst of springlike weather — what many locals call a “false spring” — before winter returns. But this time, he says, it doesn’t fit that pattern.

“Anyone around here will tell you we always get that false spring where it warms up in March,” Thompson said. “We all get excited about that and then we freeze again. This isn’t that.”…
