Fatal single-vehicle crash on H-1 Freeway early Sunday morning

HONOLULU (Island News) – A single-vehicle collision resulted in one fatality early Sunday morning, according to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section.

The collision occurred at approximately 4:18 a.m. in the Makiki area when a 63-year-old man was driving westbound on the H-1 Fwy. The driver first struck the center concrete median, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle and subsequently collide with the wall of the Vineyard off-ramp.

As a result of the collision, the 63-year-old man was then taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where it was later announced that he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead…
