CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The threat has lessened, but we’re not in the clear. We are still watching for the threat of severe thunderstorms. Later this evening, we are expecting a transition into snow showers for areas west of the Blue Ridge. If snowfall becomes heavy, small accumulation on grassy and elevated areas are possible. Most of the area has seen between 0.5″ to over 1″ of rain. Gusts have picked up across the area – 30 to 40 mph gusts. Wind Advisories out until later tonight for parts of the viewing area.
MAJOR COOL DOWN
As the front sweeps through the area, the temperatures will drop by 20 degrees (into the 40s). Lows are expected to be in the 20s and 30s early tomorrow morning.
