Large teen gathering at Crown Memorial Beach

Over the weekend, hundreds of teens and young adults gathered at Crown Memorial Beach for a party promoted on social media as a beach takeover. The event was originally planned for Sunday and Tuesday, but it was moved up to Saturday. Police from the East Bay Regional Park District and the Alameda Police Department maintained a strong presence to monitor the crowd.

While most participants were peaceful, there were reports of underage drinking and several disturbances. Some attendees were pepper sprayed, and one person was taken to a hospital after an assault related to a water gun game. A taser was also reported in the crowd. Nearby businesses at the South Shore Shopping Center closed early due to the disruptions.
