Suspect identified, new details revealed in Clinton motel shooting

CLINTON, Tenn. (WATE) — The Clinton Police Department identified the suspect it believes shot a man at a hotel on Sunday.

Charles Overton, 40, faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a handgun while under the influence, CPD said.

According to police, Overton was involved in an argument with another man outside the Super 8 motel on Park Place. Overton then took out a handgun and shot the other man in the chest, police said.
