NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A large plume of smoke was seen at a Nashville industrial park on Monday night, rising above a recycling plant on Linder Industrial Drive.
WSMV4 saw the smoke and flames near SA Recycling in The Nations near the Cumberland River. The facility’s website says that it recycles several kinds of scrap metals, including steel, aluminum, copper, appliances and junk cars.
Tennessee Department of Transportation cameras show a massive fire at the site. The smoke could be seen from Briley Parkway. WSMV4 also captured footage of a large plume of smoke filling the sky at the facility and said an odor can be smelled in the air.
The Nashville Fire Department told WSMV that crews were dispatched to the site for reports of an outside fire and that when they arrived on the scene, there was smoke and flames showing from a pile of crushed vehicles. Fire officials said that crews worked to contain the fires to prevent them from spreading to other things being stored at the facility and that as of 10 p.m. Monday, they are continuing to work to fully extinguish the blaze…
