Weather coverage: Slick roads and overnight crashes, Livingston County travel advisory ends

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester region is dealing with slick roads on Tuesday morning after a round of snow overnight and gusty winds that are blowing around the snow.

News10NBC is tracking 40 to 50-mile-per-hour winds on Tuesday and localized snow flurries. Our crew drove around the region in the Storm Patrol and saw many slippery spots, with snow accumulation still on the roads. Livingston County travel advisory ends

Livingston County’s travel advisory for Tuesday morning has ended. The county advised drivers to slow down amid slippery road conditions and to yield to plows while they clear and salt the roads. The advisory ended around 10:20 a.m.

School delays for some

Some school districts are delaying their start time because of the weather, including Livonia, Mount Morris, Seneca Falls, and Wayland-Cohocton. In addition, the Geneseo Central School District is closed on Tuesday due to a power outage. You can see the full list of delays here.

Car slides off road on I-390 and tree falls in Brighton

The snow overnight led to some travel troubles. News10NBC’s Nikki Rudd saw crews helping to get a car out of a ditch after it slid off I-390 South in Livingston County.

When roads are snowy, AAA advises drivers to slow down to account for lower traction, accelerate and decelerate slowly, and be cautious while going up or down hills.

In addition, part of Elmwood Avenue is closed on Tuesday morning because a large tree fell and took down electrical wires. The Brighton Police Department says the road is closed between East Avenue and Clover Street as crews work to clean up. Police are asking drivers to find another route.

Any power outages?

After the Rochester region dealt with thousands of power outages on Monday, the number has shrunk to a few dozen on Tuesday morning. Monroe County had around 50 as of 5:30 a.m., and Wayne County had around a dozen. Most other local counties have only a few outages…
