Cobb to consider auto shop instead of Atlanta Road restaurant

This week, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners will consider amending a 2024 rezoning case to allow for an auto shop in place of a planned restaurant on Atlanta Road.

The 0.4-acre property, at 1782 Atlanta Road near Dobbins Air Reserve Base, was zoned by the county in 2024 under tourist services for a restaurant called Lounge234. At the time, the board set the hours of operation from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday, with no nightclubs allowed.

Applicant Jose Medina said the restaurant tenant has defaulted in paying rent, expressing a desire to rent the property for “auto body painting, auto repair and car detailing” instead. To “accommodate the new tenant,” Medina is asking the board to remove the stipulation that limits the use of the property for “restaurant use only” and amend the hours to 7 a.m. through 9 p.m. seven days a week…
