Gunshot Victims Race Into Houston Rodeo Grounds Seeking Help From Cops

Afternoon traffic at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo took a serious turn Monday when two people with gunshot wounds pulled onto the grounds and asked nearby officers for help, according to Houston police. Officers on-site rendered aid and had both victims taken to nearby hospitals, where their injuries were described as non-life-threatening. Investigators said the shooting happened off the rodeo property and are still sorting out what led up to the attack.

What the police say

According to FOX 26 Houston, the injured pair arrived in a white vehicle and approached officers stationed at the rodeo grounds. Officers provided medical assistance, and both victims were taken to area hospitals. Officials told FOX 26 the injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

As of publication, investigators had not released any suspect description and said they were still working to understand what led up to the shooting. Police did not immediately share additional details about where, specifically, the gunfire erupted before the victims arrived at the rodeo.

Safety has already been a recurring topic around this year’s RodeoHouston. Viral videos last year showed fights and crowd scrambles, prompting rodeo officials to say they had boosted security, according to the Houston Chronicle.
