Global provider of advanced defense and aerospace solutions, AeroVironment (AV) is expanding its manufacturing campus in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a move expected to create more than 450 jobs and generate more than $670 million in economic impact over the next decade.
The $30 million expansion project builds on the growth of BlueHalo, which received state and local support in 2022 and was acquired by AV in 2025. Following the acquisition, the company rebranded as AV and has more than doubled its Albuquerque workforce since 2023. Over the next 10 years, the company plans to create 450 jobs at the site — which will be in addition to its current workforce of 400+ employees.
The expansion is supported by $5 million from the State of New Mexico and $1 million from the City of Albuquerque through Local Economic Development Act funding (LEDA). The LEDA agreement ties state and city support to performance-based milestones for job creation and capital investment.
“This move marks a step change in our ability to deliver mission-critical capabilities at scale,” said President of AV’s Space, Cyber & Directed Energy segment Mary Clum. “Albuquerque is a strategic production and integration hub for space-grade components and directed energy systems that directly support U.S. national security priorities. The state’s partnership allows us to accelerate manufacturing, strengthen domestic supply chains and deliver advanced capabilities to our customers faster and more reliably.”…
