‘Where are the parents?’: Businesses in DC’s Navy Yard shaken after ‘teen takeover’

WASHINGTON (7News) — Businesses in the Navy Yard are dealing with the fallout after another so-called “teen takeover” over the weekend that ended with robberies, assaults and a gunshot fired into the air.

Police said roughly 200 juveniles flooded the D.C. neighborhood, creating chaos in one of the city’s busiest dining and nightlife districts. Officers arrested two teenagers and recovered two guns during the incident.

But by the time police stepped in, many restaurants and bars had already locked their doors and sheltered customers and staff inside as the situation unfolded.

The incident comes at a critical time for businesses near Nationals Park, with opening day for the Washington Nationals just weeks away. Restaurant owners said the early spring stretch typically brings large crowds that help drive business…
