Florida Executes Michael Lee King For 2008 Abduction And Murder Of Denise Amber Lee

Michael Lee King was executed by lethal injection Tuesday evening at Florida State Prison for the 2008 kidnapping, sexual battery, and murder of 21-year-old Denise Amber Lee. Authorities pronounced the 54-year-old dead at 6:13 p.m.

The execution follows the 2008 abduction of Lee from her North Port home. According to court records, Lee was at home with her two young children when King abducted her. While held captive in King’s vehicle, Lee managed to access his cellphone and place a 911 call. On the recording, she is heard pleading for her life and expressing a desire to return to her husband and children.

Investigators stated that King took Lee to his residence, where he bound and raped her, before driving to a cousin’s house to obtain a shovel, a flashlight, and a gas can.

A state trooper eventually stopped King’s 1994 Chevrolet Camaro after a witness reported hearing screams from the vehicle at a traffic light. Lee’s body was later discovered in a remote area where she had been shot and buried…
