Ladson man arrested after Dorchester Road traffic stop leads to gun, fentanyl charges

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A Ladson man was arrested Friday on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop on Dorchester Road, according to the North Charleston Police Department.

Police arrested 34-year-old Quintin T. Heyward, and charged him with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, unlawful possession of a handgun, and trafficking fentanyl.

The report on the incident states that just before 4 p.m. on Friday, an officer observed a vehicle speeding on Azalea Drive, and making an improper lane change and right turn onto Leeds Avenue.

A traffic stop was conducted and as the officer was approaching the vehicle, they reported smelling marijuana. Due to the odor, a probable cause search was conducted and both of the occupants of the vehicle were asked to step out and were frisked…
