Jackson man gets 3-20 years for role in multi-city Michigan car theft ring

LANSING, Mich. — A Jackson man will spend the next three to 20 years in prison for his role in an organization that stole cars across the state.

In 2023, Josiah Capetillo, 24, participated in seven thefts from the Chrysler Chelsea Proving Grounds, FireKeepers Casino and Resort in Battle Creek, and various dealerships in Rockford, Bay City, Schoolcraft Township and Wyoming, Mich.

He would then sell those cars for profit, according to the attorney general’s office.
