No buyer stepped up for the plant
Del Monte Foods is shutting down its Modesto fruit cannery, the company’s last operating plant in California.
The Walnut Creek-based company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on July 1, 2025, weighed down by heavy debt and falling demand for canned goods.
