Dr. Stephanie Lueckel was decorating her Christmas tree at home, “trying to have a moment” with her three children on Saturday, Dec. 13. Then she got a text about a mass shooting at Brown University.
As she hustled to her car to make her way to Rhode Island Hospital, Lueckel was on the phone arranging for somebody to watch her kids – ages 12, 10 and 6. Fortunately, she said, her oldest is at an age where he can keep an eye on his siblings for a while until a sitter arrives.
