The Springfield NWS confirmed that some of the wind damage that occurred with Sunday afternoon’s storms was, in fact, caused by brief tornadoes.
A squall line barreling across Howell and Texas Counties generated at least 4 weak tornadoes of EF-0 and EF-1 strength.
The first tornado touched down at 3:37 pm Sunday afternoon, southwest of Simmons. It was rated EF-1 with winds up to 94 mph and destroyed two barns.
