At least 10 cars vandalized at Baton Rouge senior apartment complex

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Residents at the Alexander Harvey Apartments on Hollywood Street say they woke up to find at least 10 vehicles with smashed windows Tuesday morning. The complex serves seniors and disabled residents.

Baton Rouge police said they are investigating. Residents say the incident is not isolated and are calling for stronger security measures at the gated community.

‘We can’t keep these vandals away’

Resident Chester Saunders, who has lived at the complex for about 20 years, said three of his windows were broken but nothing was taken from his vehicle. He said he sat on broken glass during a drive to a dialysis appointment before realizing the damage extended to the back seat.

“We’ve got a gated community here with security, and yet we can’t keep these vandals away from our cars, our property,” Saunders said. “So it’s unfair, but somehow or another, I got to pay to get all of this stuff fixed.”…
