MoJo’s Cafe & Gallery in Troy to shut its doors

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A community favorite for all things music, art and cafe treats will close its doors on Sunday, March 29. MoJo’s Cafe & Gallery announced Tuesday that the business would close its chapter at the end of the month.

Owners Alana and Niek Velvis shared the news in an Instagram post. They acknowledged that it was a hard decision that they reflected heavily on.

“As many of you may know, we’ve been exploring what the next chapter of MoJo’s might look like here in Troy. Sometimes when the winds shift and your sails are already up, your direction changes,” the post said.

MoJo’s opened in February 2024 and offered a space for album releases, book launches, burlesque shows, kids concerts, gallery openings, Drink n’ Draw nights and many performances by local and Grammy-award winning musicians.

“Together we built something that was always more than a café or a gallery. MoJo’s became a gathering place, a place where music, art, and community met in real time,” the post continued…
