Asheville attorney Robert Perry Tucker II was found guilty last month of conspiring with two others to illegally take ownership of a former police officer’s Arden house through bogus court and legal filings.
Superior Court Judge Louis A. Trosch Jr. found Tucker guilty of obtaining property by false pretenses and conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses. The judge sentenced Tucker, 63, to four years to 70 months in prison, noting that as a lawyer Tucker took an oath to uphold the law.
“Mr. Tucker used that position in order to cheat people out of a significant amount of money, and not just any people, very unsophisticated people that were clearly down on their luck,” Trosch said after the three-day trial. “And it’s deplorable.”…
