Chattahoochee Golf Club course to close for renovations in 2026

The City of Gainesville, Georgia is expected to begin renovations for the Chattahoochee Golf Club (CGC) with the hope for making the course a real gamechanger for golfers.

A press release posted on the City of Gainesville’s social media page indicates that the city will close CGC from March 30 until September of 2026. This, however, will exclude the driving range and related facilities. The closure will allow the city to implement a laundry list of action items targeted at modernizing aging infrastructure, improving playability and enhancing the course aesthetic . City officials believe this will ultimately strengthen the overall golfer experience.

Director of Golf Rodger Hogan says in the release, “After identifying and communicating opportunities for improvement with key stakeholders — City leadership, CGC staff and the CGC Advisory Committee — and discussing a plan of action, the City came to a collective decision to pursue all of these upgrades at once instead of through a phased approach over several years. Chattahoochee Golf Club continues to grow in popularity by the day, evidenced by record rounds, and we felt our customers would prefer a five-month hiatus over a five-year period where the golf course is in a constant state of construction.”
