EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – The Environmental Protection Agency is encouraging residents near the Jacobsville Neighborhood Soil Contamination site to get their soil tested and have their children tested for lead levels, as the agency holds in-person public meetings this week.
About the contamination site
The Jacobsville Neighborhood Soil Contamination site includes Jacobsville and 12 other neighborhoods in Evansville. Part of the Jacobsville neighborhood was home to several manufacturing and foundry companies dating back to the 1800s, which resulted in lead and arsenic contamination across a wide area of soil.
