Federal prosecutors say a former Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy and helicopter pilot will spend more than five years in prison for helping a cryptocurrency promoter intimidate rivals and orchestrate a staged drug arrest.

Michael David Coberg, 44, of Eastvale, was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson. The judge also ordered Coberg to pay $127,000 in restitution.
