A 52-year-old Turlock man was hit and killed today on a lonely stretch of Washington Road near Ehrlich Road, southwest of the city. Emergency crews responded, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene while investigators shut down the area to piece together what happened.
The collision was reported shortly after 4:30 AM, and the victim was found in the roadway, where he died, according to CBS Sacramento. The California Highway Patrol said the driver, a resident of Hilmar, stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. Investigators believe the man had been walking in the road before the SUV struck him. Authorities also said they do not suspect alcohol or drugs played a role.
