Audi driver dies after launching off Livermore freeway ramp

LIVERMORE, Calif. (KRON) — An Audi driver in Livermore was killed Tuesday after speeding on Interstate 580 and launching off an offramp while attempting to pass a slower car, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal solo crash occurred around 8:42 p.m. at the Isabel Avenue exit. Arriving first responders found an overturned 2003 Audi A4 convertible in a grass field just south of the offramp. The driver, identified by the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau as Jonathan Walker, 45, of Livermore, was pronounced deceased.

Crash investigators determined that Walker was “driving recklessly, travelling at speeds of approximately 90 mph, prior to exiting,” CHP said. At the exit, Walker allegedly made an aggressive maneuver to pass a Honda when he lost control.

The driver of the Honda remained at the scene to cooperate as a witness to the crash…
