Man’s ‘nasty’ River Walk dive on St. Patrick’s Day weekend leaves locals appalled

While the San Antonio River Walk was bustling with several St. Patrick’s Day celebrations over the weekend, one man seemed to push his luck to the limit by diving headfirst into the attraction’s green-tinted waters.

The man, later identified as Ed Olszanowski, said the quick dip was a last-ditch attempt to retrieve a friend’s phone from beneath the river’s murky surface. In a viral video posted Saturday by user @jac_rae, Olszanowski can be seen crawling on his hands and knees before dunking his head, arms and a portion of his torso into the water. As he delves down under, another man in a red shirt holds Olszanowski’s ankles down — likely in an attempt to ensure he doesn’t fall in.

Olszanowski then emerges from the water, soaked but triumphant, with his friend’s phone in hand. He quickly passes the device over, then holds his arms up in a gesture of victory as the crowd cheers him on. As of Tuesday, the video has racked up over 2 million views, 164,000 likes and nearly 400 comments…
