Mom of bicyclist killed in crash in Albuquerque advocates for pedestrian and cyclist safety

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – She was a 19-year-old who championed bike safety but was hit and killed in an Albuquerque crosswalk last year. Now, the mother of Kayla Vanlandingham said she’s continuing the fight for safer streets for everyone.

“Braking only takes a second. Ending a life lasts forever,” the City of Albuquerque said in an ad, a part of a new campaign teaching people about traffic code changes.
