Two people landed in jail Wednesday after the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force hit a home in the Yelm area with a search warrant, according to authorities. Deputies say the residence was tied to armed narcotics dealing, and they walked out with a grab bag of drugs, firearms, body armor and high-end retail goods. Both suspects were booked into the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of dealing narcotics while armed.
According to KING 5, Sheriff Derek Sanders said detectives seized cocaine and pills along with packaging materials, scales and other items typically associated with drug distribution. Investigators also recovered seven firearms, magazines and ammunition, multiple plate carriers and about $14,000 in cash. Deputies additionally found merchandise including shoes, purses, televisions and jewelry that authorities say may be linked to trafficking. The sheriff’s office noted that the arrests stem from an ongoing task-force investigation.
Seizure echoes earlier sweeps
The haul lines up with previous busts by the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force that have turned up sizable amounts of drugs, guns and cash, highlighting how investigators focus on armed dealers in the South Sound. KIRO 7 has chronicled similar county cases where coordinated warrants led to multi-item seizures and arrests. Those operations typically bring together task-force detectives with local and federal partners.
Charges and what comes next
Per KING 5, the two suspects were booked on allegations of dealing narcotics while armed, a type of accusation that can mean tougher penalties when weapons are involved. Prosecutors will now review the case file and decide on formal charges while detectives finish processing evidence and cataloging everything that was seized.
