WAIALUA, Hawaii (Island News) — During the stormy weather, all eyes were not only on the rain coming down, but also the water levels going up.
That includes at an aging but critical Oahu water structure that can determine the fate of downstream communities during a storm.
For Waialua residents that live along Kaukonahua Stream, not only did the heavy rain cause water to overflow the banks, flooding was enhanced as water was released from Wahiawa Dam.
