North Tonawanda leaders execute contracts to begin construction of new city pool

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. — North Tonawanda’s city council has approved contracts to finally get the ball rolling on the replacement of the Payne Park Memorial swimming pool, a project, which has been eight years in the making.

Since the time city leaders began discussing the replacement of the existing pool the price tag on the project has grown from close to $7 million to nearly $10 million according to North Tonawanda Mayor Austin Tylec.

The city has raised nearly $9 million for the project thus far and is confident in securing the rest in order to begin construction this year…
