Driving You Crazy: ‘Free Stuff’ mess cleared after weeks of complaints on Six Forks Road in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – An empty lot that recently drew attention for piles of free items has now been cleared following weeks of complaints and city involvement.

Earlier this year, signs labeled “Free Stuff” caught the eye of drivers passing the corner of Six Forks Road and Industrial Drive in Raleigh. The signs led to neatly arranged piles of shoes, clothing, furniture, camping gear and other items. The collection came from a former homeless encampment located in the woods behind the lot.

The items were placed there by Pick Up Pose, a volunteer cleanup group. Gus Vandermeeren, a member of the group, said the goal was to keep usable items out of landfills by offering them to the public…
