Chattanooga Incline Railway area set for makeover with new shops coming to St. Elmo

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn — A new chapter is taking shape around one of Chattanooga’s most iconic landmarks.

CARTA has brought in a local company to expand operations around the Incline Railway in St. Elmo, with new businesses expected to move into the area.

The transit authority recently signed a contract with the Reinert Group to operate nearby businesses and handle ticketing at the Railway. That comes after CARTA ended its agreement with Clumpies late last year.

The new operators say they plan to introduce several businesses to the area, including a Jeni’s Ice Cream location.
