Vanderburgh County Fire Department deputy chief passes away after 45 years of service

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Vanderburgh County Fire Department has announced the death of a longtime active-duty member this week.

Deputy Chief David Edmondson passed away at his home on Tuesday following a battle with cancer. Officials say Edmondson exemplified professionalism, leadership and unwavering commitment to protecting others after 45 years of service to the citizens of his community.

“Deputy Chief Edmondson was not only a respected leader but also a mentor, friend and brother to many within our organization,” the department wrote in a Facebook post announcing his death. “His experience, knowledge and leadership helped shape our department and the members who had the privilege of serving alongside him. He also demonstrated incredible strength and resilience through his courageous battle with cancer, facing it with the same determination and character that defined his career.”…
