Local market suffers huge setback after winds tears open greenhouse

With the strong winds that happened the last few days, one local business had its greenhouse roof torn apart.

The gusts were strong enough to tear the roof off the greenhouse on No Dirt Farms, leaving behind a big setback for the owner of West Side Market, Amanda Hines.

She said they noticed the damage on Monday morning after the winds tore through it the previous night.

Hines said they had a full crop of lettuce, which was destroyed, leaving Hines to now play catch-up.

“We can’t do anything until the whole greenhouse is repaired, and it’s not just slapping a roof on it. All of our equipment is exposed right now in the elements, and so we don’t know how that’s really going to affect us in the future,” she told us…
