Mobile, Al — On Wednesday, the U.S. Navy awarded more than $15 billion to General Dynamics Electric Boat to advance work on its next generation of nuclear-armed submarines, with a portion of the effort flowing to Mobile as Alabama’s role in the program continues to grow.
The $15.38 billion contract modification supports additional Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines, including design work, construction support and investments aimed at expanding the nation’s submarine-building industrial base.
