Churchville man arrested for DWI with child passenger under Leandra’s Law

A Churchville man is facing serious charges after being arrested for driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle.

On Sunday, New York State Police in Deposit pulled over a 2016 BMW M4 on State Route 17. The driver, 34-year-old Trent Burgess, had an 11-year-old passenger in the car.

Troopers detected the odor of alcohol and noted signs of impairment. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests confirmed he was intoxicated. Burgess was arrested under Leandra’s Law, which makes it a felony to drive impaired with a child passenger…
