Rochester, N.Y. — A man charged with a hate crime and a for a hit-and-run on the same day, and who later used homophobic slurs during a court appearance, is heading to prison.
Authorities said Alexander Ortiz drove toward a pedestrian June 11, 2024 on Monroe Avenue, then got out and chased him into his workplace, yelling homophobic slurs and striking the victim.
