Deadly Spin On Coronado’s Silver Strand Leaves 78-Year-Old Cyclist Dead

Yesterday on Coronado’s Silver Strand, it ended in tragedy when a 78-year-old man was struck by a vehicle and killed, city officials said.

The collision happened at about 1:35 PM near the intersection of Silver Strand Boulevard and Tulagi Road, shutting the highway down for several hours while emergency crews and investigators worked the scene. Responding officers and bystanders attempted life-saving measures, but the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his name, pending notification of the family.
