DELCO Man Wrestles a Gator at FDR Park

I love a local news story. Especially if it involves fishing oddities. That’s what we had back up in Philly. Unfortunately, the story is three years old, but it’s finding new life and making new rounds on social media, as things tend to do. I missed it then, discovered it now, so I bring it to you, slightly reheated.

Long story short, this guy named Ike Peyton wrestled a mini-gator (cayman) to submission that he saw sunning on the bank while fishing at FDR Park. Gotta keep that jawn away from the bass, a’ight.

“He captured it with his hands, wrapping its jaws closed with caution tape before reporting it to the police.”

Evidently, Ike is from Delaware County Pennsylvania (DELCO); the place I grew up. I mean look at this motherfuckin’ baller… Bass Pro hat, camo hoodie, grippin’ that dinosaur and smirkin’ with a dart in his mouth. That photo needs to be hung in a museum. I love everything about it.

(By the way, anyone who knows anything about DELCO knows that “DELCO Man” is about as close to a “Florida Man” as one can possibly get in terms of sensationalist news headlines. Exhibits A, B, and C. The fact that this DELCO Man was gator wrestling in South Philly has my heart swelling with pride.)
