GoFundMe started for Perry man mangled in freak blizzard mishap

The family of a Perry man has started a GoFundMe campaign for him after he was injured when a huge tree fell on his pickup truck during Sunday night’s blizzard.

Lisandro Castro of Perry was traveling west on Willis Avenue about 9 p.m. when the tree fell. If it caused $25,000 in damage to the pickup truck, then one can imagine how badly it mangled his hand. It is a miracle that he was not more badly hurt or killed.

Castro’s niece, Terrazas Itzel of Waukee, a 2024 graduate of Perry High School, has started the GoFundMe campaign for her uncle and seeks local support. Here is how she described the situation on the GoFundMe page:…
