First Responders Rescue Dog From Douglas County Lake

On “X,” the Douglas County Sheriff says shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Deputies responded to a call for a dog in distress in the area of 228th and Harney Streets, just south of Waterloo.

When they arrived, they were told a dog had fallen through the ice on the lake and was treading water.

Deputy Kubik, who’s a DCSO K9 handler, made use of a kayak that was on one of the homeowner’s docks and quickly made his way across the ice, using his oar to break the ice as he paddled to the dog…
