Republic City Council votes to not increase the water rate for 2026; restructuring the CIP infrastructure plan

REPUBLIC, Mo. (KY3) – Republic residents have felt the squeeze from an increase in their water rates.

Customers saw small increases in 2023 and 2024, but 2025 was the big jump. On average, residents saw an 85% increase in their water rates; some saw it rise by as much as 94%.

These rate increases are a part of the city of Republic’s 20-year, $90 million, Capital Improvement Plan to improve the city’s water infrastructure. The last major improvements to that infrastructure were back in 2006…
