A new chapter in Jacksonville’s story begins this weekend, and the entire community is invited to be part of it!
The grand opening of the Jacksonville Historical Museum is set for Saturday, March 21, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and organizers are encouraging families, friends and longtime locals to come out and celebrate. And admission is completely free!
Located at 201 W. Main Street (in the former Chopsticks restaurant building), the museum brings together more than 150 years of Jacksonville history, showcasing the people, places and moments that have shaped the city.
One of the biggest highlights of the grand opening is the recognition of two well-known Jacksonville natives: Kris Allen and Heather Baker. Allen is best known as the winner of season 8 of American Idol; Baker, who graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1994, is the president and publisher of AY Media Group.
